After completing his master's in Orthopaedics, Dr Gopalakrishnan worked at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore. Later, he completed his fellowship training in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at the Institute for Research and Rehabilitation of Hand under the Department of Plastic Surgery, Stanley Hospital, Chennai. He worked with Aster MIMS till 2016 before joining Meitra Hospital.
