Anesthesiology & Pain Management
Pain can interfere with your ability to work, sleep, and socialize, disrupting your overall quality of life. When standard pain management treatments such as paracetamol and ibuprofen prove to be ineffective, pain management specialists can help you control, treat, and manage pain with safe, and effective medications, procedures, exercises, and therapy.
The Department of Pain Management consists of a team of well-trained pain management experts who help adults and children with a wide range of disorders. The team focuses on providing inter-disciplinary medical care based on the applications of Anaesthesia with an optimal and evidence-based approach to therapies such as interventional pain management and complementary and alternative therapies, ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient.
At Meitra, common painful conditions are managed such as joint pain, head, neck, and shoulder pain, widespread body pain, auto-immune conditions, neuropathic pain, endometriosis, and even pain originating due to cancer. Our doctors offer services including pain rehabilitation and management, injection therapies and implantable pain management devices. Using the latest in diagnostic technology, paired with medical and interventional therapeutics, our experts work closely with you to identify the primary source of your pain, eliminate, or reduce it and teach you how to manage it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to suffer from chronic pain for the rest of my life?
Not necessarily. With proper treatment, people can live full, normal lives after having experienced chronic pain.
Should I take pain medications only when I have severe pain?
Pain is easier to control when it is mild. Do not wait for the pain to become severe. Pain medication should be taken only as prescribed.
Why do I need to keep taking more of my medicine to have the same effect?
This usually happens when the body develops drug tolerance. Tolerance is a normal physiological response to narcotics and occurs when the initial dose of a substance loses its effectiveness over time. Changing the dose or the medication often solves the problem. Just because you have become tolerant of a drug does not mean that you are addicted to that drug.
